Monthly Highlights
Below are photos and a story from the recent month's guided fly fishing trips in New Zealand's Central South Island.
February 2016
February was a month of returning clients.
First up Philippe from South West France who was here for the first half of the month after many years absence raising a family and relocating from Paris back to his native region. Nearly 10 years have elapsed since Philippe last took on our rainbow and brown trout population so he was excited to be back into 'em!
We had a dream run with the weather - mostly sunny days with only the occasional cloudy windy day to contend with. Very warm temperatures and low water levels in some rivers meant demanding fishing while elsewhere in larger mountain fed waters the cicadas were "doing their thing" so action was guaranteed!
At the end of the day, in typical french fashion, we would sit outside and have our aperitif digesting the "amuses-bouches" of "foie gras" and "cou farci" which Philippe had generously brought over with him from his homeland.

Following hot on the heels of Philippe were Thierry, Nicolas and Louis. Again regular clients who would normally have been a quartet but their friend Didier had the misfortune to break a bone in his foot while fishing on the West Coast before coming to Twizel and ended up being repatriated back to Switzerland.
Accuracy in fly presentation is critical at this time of year for success.
Luckily these guys are all accomplished anglers so we were able to catch good numbers of trout thanks to their angling skills.
