Monthly Highlights
Below are photos and a story from the recent month's guided fly fishing trips in New Zealand's Central South Island.
December 2017
Teaching newcomers to the sport can be very rewarding albeit not always easy. Trout don't make allowances for beginners!
In the case of Peter and Nick there was a nice balance of an accomplished angler along with one that had never held a fly rod before.
Peter, to his credit, hooked 3 trout on début but was not rewarded in landing one with the angry fish winning the battle every time.
Nick was more fortunate and the extra experience helped to "even the score" with the trout.
Alain, Sylvie (accompanied by Sylvie's mum Yeyette) are regular clients from New Caledonia. Any guide will tell you that it's always great to have repeat customers. It's pretty much like being out with friends having already broken the ice on previous occasions.
The fine settled weather continued most of the month yielding great conditions for trout spotting and making the guide's job a lot easier!
